The 2016 National Sawdust Percussion Festival brings together some of the world’s finest percussionists across all genres for one 5-hour marathon of music. Curated by Andy Akiho and Ian Rosenbaum, the Festival features a wide array of music: classics by Steve Reich, improvisations by Jason Treuting, experimental music by Mark Applebaum, a world premiere by Andy Akiho, and much more. We will also feature a few incredible non-percussionists in their percussive collaborations (former cellist of the Kronos Quartet Jeffrey Zeigler and Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient Kristin Lee).
Most artists will play 20-minute sets, and this is an informal event where the audience is encouraged to get up close and personal with the artists, and come and go from the Festival as they wish.
